As the first super five-star hotel attended in whole process by CCDI as the chief designer, it has been completed and opened for business. Through summing up the design and management methodology of high-end resort hotel projects, CCDI has proved its ability to undertake projects like this. The project is a super five-star hotel, and, from schematic design to opening for business, it takes only less than three years, which is rarely seen in the field. Relying on its inputs and persevering determination, CCDI has created a great miracle in the industry.
Given that it takes about half a year to complete all the design work, coordinate the pace of work of various consultants and ensure the progress of construction, CCDI faces a great challenge in the overall coordination of design. Based on its working plan in the whole process, the design team has planned and compiled the whole-process, full-specialty and all-consultant design schedule execution table, assisted the client in the overall control of the project, regularly fed back the progresses of various parties concerned, and notified the client of important precautions at important nodes.
To better embody the perfect integration of Naxi nationality elements and modern fashion, the design team has conducted field survey and multi-regional selection of outer facade materials in the whole process for repeated molding and detailed deliberation, with the purposes of reaching the acme of perfection and showing unique ingenuity.

Project management

Project management:
• Creation of larger architectural space and better spatial experience under the planned height and density limits
•Realization of an architectural image with rich form combinations in a highly anti-seismic region
•Use of local detailed design and materials, appropriateness of construction technology, and design of a seemingly complex but actually easy-to-make appearance
•Complete management plan and implementation measures, achieving a three-win situation for the project (i.e., technology, profit and benefits)
•Assistance to the client in preparing the schedule execution table, defining the division of labor among various parties concerned, conducting effective monitoring and management, ensuring quality within the limited schedule and successfully putting it into service
•Close coordination among various specialties in view of the implementation difficulties in the project, customization of an effective implementation scheme, and achieving the high design and construction quality of the hotel
•Realization of the significant increase of the contract amount through internally adopting a rational project cost control and externally introducing a clearly-defined supplementary agreement procedure

Design concept

Design concept:
•Ingenious integration of the elements of modern fashion and the architectural characteristics and essence of the Naxi nationality (living in Yunnan Province, China)
•Conveying of the natural beauty and temperament of Lijiang Ancient Town in design
•Following the architectural concept of “recreating an ancient village” to create dreamlike hotel experience different from that of urban life
•Adoption of spatial planning based on the “old streets” of the ancient town to construct a space with the breath of life
•Adoption of a welcoming, peaceful and warm overall tone to gather people in the building and embody the traditional value of reunion

Architectural design

Architectural design:
•Interesting spatial metaphor, integrating the functions of a modern hotel in the traditional village space
•Creation of cordial and comfortable street and architectural scales, bringing visitors back to the ancient town of childhood
•Adoption of the “water” theme to connect the building and the landscape space
•Unification of the facades of various areas through similar structural members and materials, realizing the architectural style of “harmony in diversity”
•Use of modern design vocabulary to interpret the intention of the building tradition of the Naxi nationality, and extraction of a regional design methodology combining reason with sensibility through the control of proportions, materials, nodes and construction

Structural design

Structural design:
•Mixed application of concrete, steel, wooden and other structures, and organic integration with local architectural style and mountain topography
•Adaptation of split-level and descending structures at different heights to the changes of mountain topography, saving both earthwork and basic engineering quantity
•Innovative combination of various structural forms to simplify the complicated construction technology of traditional wooden structures, achieving the goals of light weight, safety and economical efficiency
