Conceptual Planning of Sinochem Artificial Island in Yazhou Bay,Sanya
Conceptual Planning of Sinochem Artificial Island in Yazhou Bay, Sanya.
Project Location: Sanya, Hainan Province
Site Area: 2000㎡
Client: SINOCHEM Franshion Properties (China) Limited

The artificial island is scarce in form and superior in coastal resources, and, based on a detailed analysis on the real estate development model, local cultural connotations, hydrological conditions and ocean currents of Sanya, it is planned to be built into the first tourism and residential island and the first fantasy island in the South China Sea, themed by tropical coastal resort.
According to its planning and design, in terms of form, the “Maritime Silk” artificial island integrates aesthetic, pragmatic and cultural connotations; in terms of structure, it adopts the inner bay as its core, lays out a composite industrial ribbon, and creates a tourism development pattern of “small-scale tourism, medium-scale resort and large-scale real estate”; in terms of space, it aims to provide a “lake-river-sea-bay”-based multi-layered waterfront experience, develop rich coastline utilization forms, open up the visual corridor, and create a marine-themed tourism and residential atmosphere; in terms of development pattern, it attracts investors with sound infrastructure to realize continuous financial growth; in terms of implementation, combines ecological ideas with hydrological conditions and ocean currents as well as island type and terrain, and has realized the integration and win-win of environmental and water conservancy projects.
Relying on the rich artificial island design experience and senior design experts of the Shenzhen Planning & Design Department of CCDI Regional and Urban Development Design Research Centre, the design of the project has realized whole-process services, from form to connotations, and from ideas to implementation.
