Located in the southeast of Xiamen Island and backed by Wucun Mountain and Dongping Mountain in the south, Xiamen Railway Station falls within the transition belt from low-mountain region to flat region. The passenger flows of this station consist of HSR passenger flows, ordinary railway passenger flows and BRT passenger flows. It is expected that, in 2030, the annual passenger traffic volume, daily average passenger traffic volume and morning-peak railway passenger flow of Xiamen Railway Station will respectively reach 12.5 million person trips, 34,247 person trips and 4,000 person trips.
The planning sets a north square and a south square, and the planning width of the marshalling yard (five platforms and nine lines) is controlled as a distance of 103m between the outermost platform edges.
On the north, south, east and west sides of the station area are respectively Xiahe Road, Zhanping Road #2, Shuanghan Road and Jinbang Road, the former two of which are urban main roads, while the latter two of which are urban secondary main roads. A rail transit and BRT stations are built on the north square.
Xiamen Railway Station adopts the scheme of five platforms and nine lines, the central rail top of the marshalling yard has a design elevation of 13.4m, the platform has an elevation of 14.65m, and the north square in front of the station has a design elevation of 21.65m (an elevation difference of 7m from the platform).
The building area of the station building is controlled within 24,000㎡.
